K Songs So Far [1st – 20th July 2013]

I am sick currently and have been trying my best to get a post up. I may have difficulties being objective because somehow being ill makes me prefer songs with stronger flavour. The songs I liked and found to be ok may receive some negative feedback since July had a bevy of the industry’s heavyweights returning and most of them did things below my expectations. IMHO people, IMHO.

Songs Sick-Me Would Recommend/Songs Sick-Me like

1. Dynamic Duo returns with their 7th album ‘Lucky Numbers‘ and honestly, their title song ‘BAAM'(snake?) wasn’t as good as I would have liked it but it was still ok. The song has an RnB groove and I love how Gaeko ‘Ow!Ow!Ow!Ow!’s in the song and MV. The album is good overall, with most being my favourites, excluding ‘Baam (feat Muzie of UV)’ and ‘Lee Dae Ho((feat. Supreme Team, DJ Friz)’ which were not too bad, but not too good either. The beats and the rapping go so well together in RoTK.

Have You Watched Them Yet?: 7th March – 21 May 2013 [updated 4/8/13]

So yes, this is the drama/film version of ‘Have You Listened To Them Yet’, which I have been doing for songs and covers from March-June. I figured that it wasn’t very appropriate to use the original titles, since these aren’t very recent updates.

Note: I haven’t watched the films and shows below so the comments will be my zeroth(because there’s a first?..and before that is zero..so..ehehe :P) impression. More information is a click away:)

Movie Picks

1.High Heels: The film sounds like it’s going all out with the comedy, with Cha Seung Won leading as a cop, Ji Wook, from the ‘Violent Crimes’ department who wants to be female. That’s so extreme O.O I mean, I totally love Cha for his masculine, charismatic image and imagining him as someone who wants to change his gender and do girly stuff (like wear heels for instance, or even shopping) is just mind-blowing. I am very curious as to whether another actress will play after-operation-Cha, or will Cha continue playing the character, just in female-wear and wigs?

Also, transgender is no small matter in Korea, especially for men. Perhaps the plot will inject some seriousness with regards to how the family takes it…unless the cop doesn’t have a family… I’ve been thinking too about whether Cha Seung Won’s decision to change gender is related to the character’s occupation and the cases he handled and handles. Esom will play the role as a bff(I suppose), Jang Mi, in helping the man with his wish, while Oh Jung Sae acts as Cha Seung Won’s rival, Heo Geon. Casts include Go Kyung Pyo and special appearances by Oh Ji Ho, Ahn Kil Kang and Lee Eon Jeong

Another show that’s along the same lines as High Heels is Kim Myung Min‘s Kang Ho’s Childbirth Story. Why do the two guys have to be a ‘Violent Crimes’ cop?! Or why don’t the two films merge!

Have You Listened To Them Yet?: June Edition Part 2 [16th – 30th June 2013]

Disclaimer: All posts are just containing my OPINION. I don’t mean to offend. I mean to give only my honest feedback. Also, I do not listen to every song, although I try to.

The songs that came out during this post’s period made it difficult for me to classify strictly. So, I’m going to be less brutal for the section below.

Songs I Would Recommend/ Songs I liked

1. Ulala Session pre-releases ‘Fertilizer’ from their mini album ‘Memory’. Perhaps ‘Beautiful Night’ made such a deep impression on me that I totally didn’t anticipate a ballad from them. The ballad, is breathtaking. Their emotions are just overflowing and before I knew it, I became emotional hearing them sing. I just, feel so sad for their loss too. *tissue, where are you.* AND Goosebumps, don’t ever forget goosebumps. The group’s mini album focuses on a more serious image, remembering their leader Im Yoon Taek. The intro, ‘Dear’, is just pure a capella+falsetto goodness. ‘Memory’ makes me tear once again. The chorus, I just can’t.. The whole song is one word: bittersweet. ‘I’ll Be There’ is a more cheerful, hopeful song. I can’t dislike this, it’s amazing. ‘TAQ…Remember’ is a slower song compared to the rest. The lighter instrumentals made for a simpler, sweeter ballad about remembering the past.

Recommended (The section I get ruthless)

1. I didn’t expect to find Behind The Scenes Bang Tan Sonyeo (BTS/Bullet Proof Boys)’s debut song ‘No More Dreams’ to be the what I would recommend first, considering I rank the songs by the date they are released on. I fell in love with the edgy hip-hop track the instant I listened to it. The instrumentals are just plain fantastic, and then coupled with the group’s rap and singing, the song is just something I won’t hesitate to replay frequently for the time being. Speaking of instrumentals, the start of ‘No More Dreams’ sounded so innocent. Ha! The group seems to have more rappers than singers, with V and Jeong Kook visibly doing more of the singing. I like the way Rap Monster…err..raps. His gruff voice also adds to the roughness of the song.

Recommended Songs

1. Jin Woon of 2AM and Star Love Fish released ‘Words I Couldn’t Say’ for the Strawberry X-treme Festival. The music event will see performances from the hip-hop, rock and acoustic genres. ‘Words I Couldn’t Say’ sounds better with the band music than in the acoustic version. Though the starting for the song was boring, it became better once the band started playing, reminding me a little of Nell’s recent title song, ‘The White Night’. I seriously couldn’t tell where Jinwoon sang. Heh
